Anna: 8 months old!

Happy 8 months to  my sweet baby girl!  I am laughing as I type this because Anna's pictures this month are hilarious!  As I said on last month's post, Anna is very mobile and it's hard to get her to sit still for her photo shoots!  Anna does this face now that makes us laugh so hard - she scrunches up her little nose and gives us her gummy grin!  Funniest face and if you keep scorrling down, you will see what I mean.
Just so you know, a #2 did not occur in the capturing of this photo!
She's trying so hard to give me a big smile!
Anna is not quite crawling yet, but she "swims" to get around!  I definitely have to keep an eye on her!  She says "mama" and "dada" - best sound in the whole world!  Also, as for which word she said first, well, let's just say it depends on who you ask =)  Anna is sitting up really well on her own and loves her bumbo seat!  She also loves her "chew toys" - a word I am used to saying having been a previous dog owner!  Anyway, as you can see from the above pic, she puts anything she can get her hands on in her mouth!  She also loves the texture of different things and likes to hold onto everything - especially her mom's iPhone and keys!  Anna is loving her fruits and veggies and like her mama, detests peas!  We are having fun experimenting with different foods and food combinations.
I am currently putting the finishing touches to Anna's nursery, but will have pictures up soon!

Anna's first Halloween!

Anna celebrated her first Halloween by dressing up as a ladybug!  And the cutest ladybug I have ever seen, I might add!  =)  She was so adorable and tolerated the costume pretty well!  We visited Grandma and Grandpa Anderson and Grandma and Grandpa Pike!  Anna got a new book from Grandma Anderson and a stuffed animal pumpkin from Grandma Pike (since she can't have candy yet)!  Here are some pics (I couldn't decide on one - she's just too cute)!

Anna's nursery and my Pinterest addiction

I made this butterfly mobile for Anna's nursery!
While in England, I discovered a website called Pinterest.com.  I have mentioned it on here before.  It's the greatest website in the world and has everything you can imagine on it - my favorite is the crafts and DIY project ideas.  Everyone, my name is Sarah, and I'm addicted to Pinterest!  Haha!  Anyway, got this great idea for a butterfly mobile there and decided to get creative and make it.
First, I cut out 136 butterflies - 68 in lavender paper and 68 in vellum.  I cut out extras just in case.  I then glued the butterflies - one lavender and one vellum together with fishing wire in between, spaced 3 inches apart from each other on each fishing wire string.  The strings of butterflies were then attached to a wire hoop and I decorated the hoop with tulle and lavender colored ribbon.
This project took me a while as Anna keeps me pretty busy during the day, so I would work on it a little bit each night.  I admit, I now have the crafting bug!  More projects to come!

Anna: Seven Months Old!

Anna is seven months old and growing right along!  She is such a happy baby and makes us laugh and smile every minute of every day.  She is so easy going and loves meeting new people!  While she isn't quite crawling yet, I would still classify her as being mobile.  She "swims" on the floor and sort of back up crawls.  I cannot tell you how many times I will lay her on her play gym mat and I turn around for a second, and she's already moved off the mat and onto the hardwood floor - and usually, licking it!  Haha!   As Dave says, they are "good germs!"  Anna can also sit up unassisted for a few minutes at a time - still working on that but she has great neck control.  Speaking of her being mobile - it is harder than ever to get her to hold still to take a picture!  As seen here:

Take # 202 (just kidding!)
We had fun!  I think I need a faster camera!  Haha!  Anyway, Anna is so much fun!  She's my sidekick and we go everywhere together!

As I mentioned in the last posting, she has graduated to solids - I make all of her food and we have been experimenting with different fruits and veggies.  She loves bananas, apples and pears but doesn't care for squash and peas.  I am going to try carrots next, so we'll see how that goes.  So far, not so good in the veggie department!
Anna and I are currently working on some decorations for her room - stay tuned for postings on that.  Also, I have the craft-bug and am addicted to a website called Pinterest.  It has so many great ideas for all things but my favorite is crafts and DIY.  Check it out!  I also made her headband she is wearing - so cute and so easy to make!  Happy Fall everyone!

Anna's first trip to Lake George!

My parents bought a lake house on Lake George in Michigan about a year ago and over Labor Day, all of us kids and our significant others and Anna descended upon the Pike lake cottage to celebrate homecomings, birthdays and the holiday.  It was a great weekend full of boating, jet skiing, games, good food and great company.  And what weekend would be complete with out being serenaded by my Dad playing the bagpipes!?!

Here are some pics from the weekend!
The cottage view from the lake
Grandma Pike with Anna all geared up for a morning boat ride!  Michigan mornings are a bit chilly!
Grandma Pike and Anna hanging out!
Anna taking a nap with Aunt Carolyn!
The lake at night!  Beautiful!
Anna and Dad exhausted after a fun weekend!
I had unfortunately already packed my camera and didn't capture Dad playing the pipes.  But he played "Brown Haired Maiden" and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" just for Anna!  It was so awesome and Anna "sang" right along!
Thanks for a great weekend Mom and Dad!!

Anna's first trip to Dale Hollow Lake!

Dave and I have been so excited about getting back down to Dale Hollow for, well, since we left two years ago!  It is such an amazing and beautiful place and where Dave proposed to me, so it of course holds a very special place in our hearts.  So many memories, so we wanted to share it with Anna.  Our boat has been in storage for two years and we couldn't wait to get it out!
There she is!  We have missed our boat!
Anna did so well out on the water - I was a little nervous with the heat, but she loves the water and even napped out on the boat.  She is our little water baby!
First stop after launching, First Island where Dave proposed to me six years ago!

This photo makes me smile!  Mom and daughter bikini's!  (Anna's hair is out of control!)

This photo makes me laugh out loud - Anna's already driving the boat!
(Note: Don't worry, the boat wasn't actually in motion during the taking of this photo!)
Anna and Grandma Anderson!
My loves!
